What is Aion? Aion is a program that enables You to keep track of actual time in other time zones. Aion is an applicaiton for the MacOS X operating system, uses NSMenuItem which means that it's attached to the main menu bar. What does the name come from? The name Aion is a name of a Phoenician god of time and passing of life. I thought it would be a better name comparing to Aion's original codename - TimeApplication. The name is taken from http://www.pantheon.org. Take a look. Where does Aion live? Aion is written as a NSMenuItem which means it's located on the top side of a MacOS X's screen in the menu bar. Does Aion act like Apple Menu Extras? Yes... and no. From version 1.3 AION will be a dual-verison application. Each aion update will introduce both: a NSMenuItem version (basic version) and a NSMenuExtra version (called an extended version). The basic one doesn't need any other application other that itself. So it's just download-and-start-up. The extended version need a Enabler to start up. Without it, it just takes up space on your hard disk. Please read about versions if You are interested. How many time zones does Aion incorporate? Aion uses the system time zones table. All time zones that are included in the system libraries by Apple are avaible in the program. From version 1.5 AION has been upgraded and now uses its own time zones list. Right now the list contains only the previously used time zones but in version 1.7 more time zones shall be added Aion will not have all the time zones and cities included as it has been created with efficiency and spped in mind. How about customisation? It's a matter of top priority. Aion is supposed to be fully custimizable letting the user to fit Aion to its liking. The process is slow thow and need a lot of time from the programmer. The most important in the whole process is people's feedback. It's those ideas that make Aion a better product. Right now AION enables users to display a time using a customizable format.
